Recycle Saline Yard Debris Program Ending

In 2014, the Yard Debris program was put into place by Recycle Saline: A Solid Waste District. Recycle Saline has paid all the cost associated with the yard debris program including the transportation and disposal with no cost to the customer. The cost to run the free yard debris program for residents is upwards of $100,000 to operate. Due to the cost of operating this program, Recycle Saline will no longer be able to provide this free service. To keep a program in place for Saline County, the Republic Services Saline County Landfill will be offering yard debris disposal beginning January 2, 2019. Because there is a cost to operate and process the yard waste, they will now begin charging for all yard debris brought into the landfill. The cost will be $15 per ton for residents and $30 minimum per ton for commercial businesses. We understand that this will be an adjustment for residents, if you have any questions regarding the changes please call the Recycle Saline office. We appreciate your understanding and willingness to participate in the new yard debris program.
