Recycle Saline Receives the Community Involvement Award from the Arkansas Recycling Coalition

The Arkansas Recycling Coalition (ARC) held its annual awards presentation at the Best Western Inn of the Ozarks, Eureka Springs, AR, on October 9.  The presentation took place during the Arkansas Recycling Coalition's 28th Annual Conference & Trade Show.  Each year this educational event attracts many professionals in the reduce, reuse, recycle, and sustainability field from around the state and nation.

Recycle Saline was the recipient of ARC's 2018 Community Involvement Award. This award honors an agency/association who has made a significant contribution to the advancement of waste reduction, recycling, and sustainability in Arkansas over the past year.

Recycle Saline received the Community Involvement Award for its Re-Fashion Bash “Where Green is the New Black” recycling fashion show.  Re-Fashion Bash raises awareness about recycling by encouraging participation from students in kindergarten through 12th grade. The students create designs out of recycled materials to be presented on the fashion show runway.  The show just completed its 4th year and is looking forward to the 5th annual Re-Fashion Bash “Where Green is the New Black” on April 27, 2019 at the Benton Event Center.

On hand to accept the award from ARC's Board Director Bobby Fanning was Tiffany Dunn.

Other award winners were Regional Recycling & Waste Reduction District – Recycling Education Program of the Year Award, City of Augusta – Government Recycler of the Year Award, ACE Glass Recycling – Corporate Recycler of the Year Award, and Mayor Mark Stodola – Lifetime Achievement Award.

Award Sponsors for this year's event included McKee Foods Corporation (Gentry, AR), Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control (E. Camden, AR), and ESCO Processing and Recycling (Rogers, AR).

Founded in 1989, the ARC unites companies, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and individuals in a common effort to promote reduce, reuse, recycle, and sustainability as a primary means of waste management in Arkansas.  For more information, visit www.recycleark.org or call Cherie O'Mary, ARC Executive Director, at (866) 290-1429.
